The road-widening work has also created bottlenecks and traffic issues in this locality, although once complete, there will be smooth-flowing traffic.

Factors for growth in the future

IT parks and shopping and entertainment centres are the chief growth prospects for Bannerghatta Road. With the rise in residential and commercial properties, the locality looks set to be one of the major hot spots in the city of Bengaluru.

Phase II of the Metro from Gottigere, passing through IIMB and reaching Nagawara will reduce travel time for people commuting from Bannerghatta Road to the north of Bengaluru. Phase II will also connect Bangalore's outskirts with the centre of the city's business districts. The much awaited road widening project will ease a lot of traffic congestion as the road will be widened from 45 feet to 150 feet.
